Glastonbury, CT – William Philip Ricard, 77, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2019 at Salmon Brook Nursing Facility in Glastonbury, CT. Born in Holyoke to the late William J. and Juliette A. (Charpentier) Ricard, he was a lifelong Western Mass resident before moving to Connecticut 10 years ago. William served his country honorably as a Signalman in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Throughout his career he was employed as a Mail Handler at the Bulk Mail Center in Springfield. William was a member of the Tiger Athletic Club in Chicopee and an avid golfer. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jennifer Ricard Buck and her husband Daniel; his step-son, Richard Padykula and his wife Nora; his brother, David Ricard; and by his grandchildren, Austin, Jack and Daniel Buck and Bobby and Fiona Padykula. William was predeceased by his wife, Jane A. (Znoj) Ricard in 2008.
A committal service with Military Honors will be held on Friday January 24th at 10 am in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., in Agawam. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made in William’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
