Springfield - Ramon Padilla, 76, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. He was born and raised in Maunabo, Puerto Rico. A son of the late Manuel and Perfecta (Garcia) Padilla. He later came to live in New York in pursuit of a better life and worked in the Sheet Metal manufacturing industry in New Jersey for many years. Ramon loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and he also loved to play and listen to Latin Jazz music. He loved playing the Congas and Timbales. His favorite artists were Cortijo y su combo, Ismael Rivera, Fania, Tito Puentes and El Grand Combo. Ramon was always a happy and cheerful man. He was a diehard New York Yankees fan and never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite team.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Emma Padilla, his children, Daniel Padilla and his wife Autumn, Jesenia Padilla and her spouse John, and Reynaldo Padilla and his wife Linda; his beloved grandchildren, Anastasia, Daniel Jr., Xander, Camdyn, Angel, Giovanni, Isabelle, Hunter, Janira, Michelle, and Reynaldo Jr.; by his seven great grandchildren, his two brothers and two sisters. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Ramon Padilla Jr., 2 sisters and one brother.
An outdoor prayer service will take place for Ramon at the St. Paul Episcopal Church, 485 Appleton St., Holyoke, MA on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 12pm. You may begin arriving at the church at 11:30am to greet the family before the serivce. All are invited to join the family and remember Ramon. Please be sure to wear face masks/coverings and social distancing is required.
