Melanie Anas, 73, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 with her loving daughter, Jennifer, fulfilling all of her last wishes. Melanie was born in Holyoke, MA on August 13, 1947 and was the daughter of Helen C. (Topor) and Frank J. Sawicki. She was educated in Chicopee at St. Stanislaus School and graduated from Chicopee High School. Melanie went on to receive an Associate in Science degree in Medical Record Terminology from Holyoke Community College, was a Certified Pharmacy Technician from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and also worked briefly as a TSA Screener at Bradley International Airport. For the last many years, Melanie worked as a Unit Secretary at Baystate Noble Hospital in Westfield, Massachusetts where she recently retired.
Melanie was predeceased by both of her parents, Helen and Frank Sawicki. Melanie will be missed dearly by her daughter Jennifer Johnson and her husband Donald along with her two cherished granddaughters, Claire and Lauren; her sister Nancy Canevari and her husband Andrew, and her niece Monique Goldschmidt and her husband Christopher and family; her “2nd” daughter Tara Garstka along with other extended family and friends.
Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee Street, Chicopee, MA will be handling the arrangements. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Melanie’s name.
