ALBINA T. KOCENIAK

1929 – 2018

CHICOPEE – Albina T. (Borowiecki) Koceniak, 89, passed away at Mt. Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke on Friday, October 12, 2018. She was born in Holyoke, MA on April 6, 1929, daughter of the late Jacob and Jozefa (Cuchra) Borowieczka and was educated in local schools. She was primarily a homemaker and took great pride in raising her family with her late husband, George Koceniak who died in 1987. Albina was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and her strong and steadfast faith was evident in how she helped family, friends and anyone who needed assistance or faith to overcome difficulties. She was also predeceased by a son, Dennis Koceniak in 1991 and by two siblings, Walter Borowiecki and Carol Kawalec. Albina is survived by two sons, Philip Koceniak of Chicopee; Jamie Koceniak and his wife Linda of Castro Valley, CA and her daughter, Cynthia LaCombe of West Springfield. She also leaves two sisters, Stasia Jarocki of Easthampton and Adele Moskal of South Hadley as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Albina loved watching her grandchildren play sports, cooking them chicken noodle soup, potato pancakes and keeping an endless supply of M&M’s.  She will be remembered by her adored grandchildren, Kara McCormack and her husband Matt, Brittany LaCombe, Justin LaCombe, Garrett Koceniak, Genevieve Koceniak, Adam Koceniak and her great granddaughter Gianna McCormack.  She loved watching the Red Sox and any team that John Calipari coached. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:15AM in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery St., Chicopee, MA.
