William “Bill” Thomas Dextradeur, 76, beloved husband of 38 years of Debra A. (Pelchat) Dextradeur, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with his loving family at his side.
Bill was born on September 25, 1947, in Fall River, MA, the son of William J. and Mary L. (Allen) Dextradeur.
He was raised and educated in Enfield, CT, before becoming a longtime resident of Chicopee.
Bill served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy as GMG 3 on the USS Intrepid (aka The Fighting “I”) and a PBR Boat during the Vietnam War.
He received the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal (with one Bronze Star), and the Vietnam Campaign Medal (with device), and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a former Plater at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT, and was later employed as a Lead Printer, for over 30 years, at Emerson EGS Electrical Group in East Granby, CT.
Bill was a dedicated family man and a wonderful provider for his family.
He was blessed with a brilliant mind and great sense of humor.
Bill loved baseball and football. He was a big fan of the Los Angeles Angels, Michigan Wolverines, and the LA Chargers.
He also enjoyed playing fantasy football, camping, dancing, and music.
Bill leaves behind his loving wife, Debra of Chicopee, and sons, William J. Dextradeur and his wife, Sabina of Chicopee, and David T. Dextradeur of Ames, IA, nephew, Marek Pelchat of Glenwood Springs, CO, and best friend, Roy Mccarter of Manchester, CT.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his faithful Cocker Spaniel friend, Teddy.
Family and friends are invited to meet on Friday, July 19, at 9 AM, for Bill’s committal service with military honors in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
