Vivian O. (Houle) Plouffe

Vivian O. (Houle) Plouffe, 86, beloved wife, of 64 years, of William D. “Don” Plouffe, who predeceased her in June 2017, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 15, 2021 at The Pines of Rutland, VT. Vivian was born on September 24, 1934 in Holyoke, MA, a daughter of Vanio and Exina (Perreault) Houle. She was raised and educated in Hartford, CT and was a longtime resident of Chicopee, before moving to Shrewsbury, VT, 38 years ago. Vivian was employed, for over 25 years, at the former Spalding in Chicopee and was most recently employed as a bank teller at Chittenden Bank in Rutland, VT, before retiring in 1997. She loved to knit, crochet, and tend to her flowers and vegetables in her garden. Vivian along with her husband, Don, enjoyed travelling and spending time by the beach, especially Old Orchard, ME. She was a former parishioner of Nativity Church in Chicopee and a current parishioner of Christ the King Church in Rutland. She is survived by her loving daughters, Catherine Plouffe of Ware, Corrine Vanbibber of Gainesville, GA, Jeannine Hughes of Greenfield, Danielle Plouffe and Pamela Golemo both of Northampton, brother, Real “Pete” Houle of Delaware, sister, Connie Tridle of Indiana, and by her 11 adored grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved sons, Donald D. and Steven Plouffe and brother, Rene Houle. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, June 20, from 2-5 PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family and friends will meet directly at the church on Monday, June 21, for her Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., Chicopee. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley. Memorial donations in Vivian’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage St., Springfield, MA 01104.
