CHICOPEE � Vera E. (Day) Goyette, 78, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at Wingate Nursing Home in South Hadley. She was born in Chester, VT on November 22, 1932 to the late Henry C. and Clara L. (Thomas) Day. Vera graduated from Springfield High School in Vermont in 1950. After moving to Massachusetts, Vera graduated from the former Western Mass. Hospital School of Nursing in Westfield, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Vera worked for many healthcare facilities including Chestnut Knoll Nursing Home in Springfield, the Soldiers� Home in Holyoke and the Medical Personal Pool Agency where she worked as a private duty nurse for many years. Vera�s favorite hobby was candlepin bowling. She belonged to a league for many years at Funtime Lanes in Holyoke. She was a longtime member of the former Tabernacle Baptist Church now called LifePoint Church in Chicopee. Vera was very proud to be able to sing bass in the church choir. She was a devoted wife and cherished her moments with her children. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Goyette, on August 8, 2007 after forty-two years of marriage. She leaves on this earth to cherish her memory, her son, Douglas R. Goyette and his wife, Donna of Holliston, MA; her daughter, Karen A. Goyette of Chicopee and her two grandchildren, Daniel T. Goyette and Benjamin R. Goyette both of Holliston, MA. In addition to her parents and her husband, Vera was also predeceased by her four brothers and three sisters. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, May 28 at 9:00 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home 811 Chicopee St. Chicopee. Burial will follow the Service in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. A gathering of family and friends will take place prior to the Service from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Vera�s memory, to the Pioneer Valley Christian School, 965 Plumtree Rd.
