CHICOPEE – Therese M. (Lafleur) Hamel, 83, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Willimansett Nursing Center East. She was born in Holyoke on May 12, 1926 to the late Armand and Emma (Grenier) Lafleur. Therese attended schools in Chicopee and was a Homemaker most of her life. During the later part of her life, she worked at the former K and M Electronics, where she retired in 1990. Mrs. Hamel belonged to the former Dancing Shadows Square Dancing Club. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler and loved to crochet. Therese was predeceased by her former husband, Gerald R. Hamel on April 3, 2009. She leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons, Raymond P. Hamel and his wife Jeanne of Chicopee and Paul A. Hamel and his wife JoAnn of Merced, CA; her four daughters, Jeanne Cellini and her husband Mario of Land O Lakes, FL, Rena Tkacz and her husband Martin of Holyoke, Jacqueline O’Malley and her husband Harold of Holyoke and Marcelle Barrows and her husband John of East Longmeadow; her fourteen grandchildren; her sixteen great grandchildren and her great-great grandchild. She will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Beside her parents and her former husband, Mrs. Hamel was also predeceased by her son, Roger C. Hamel and her sister, Pauline Nadeau. A funeral procession will form on Wednesday, March 17 at 7:45 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Burial will follow the Liturgy in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 16 (TODAY) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
