Sylvia Marie (Lynch) Gilcris, of Holyoke, and loving wife of Roger E. Gilcris for 43 years, who predeceased her in 2010, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Holyoke Medical Center, at the age of 74. Sylvia was born on September 4, 1947, in West Stewartstown, NH, to the late William “Pat” and Beatrice “Bea” (Fuller) Lynch. She was raised in Colebrook, NH, and graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1965. In 1967, she married the love of her life Roger E. Gilcris, and together they enjoyed traveling and military life for several years before coming home and eventually settling in Columbia, NH. She and her family moved to Chicopee, MA in 1989, where she enjoyed working with students within the Chicopee school system. A job she thoroughly enjoyed. Sylvia was an avid amateur photographer taking thousands of pictures of many special events and family gatherings, as well as all types of scenery. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her father-in-law Charles Gilcris, mother-in- law Pearl Gilcris, brothers-in-law William “Bill” Reynolds, Wayne Goulet, Tracy Gilcris and Ronal Gilcris. She leaves behind her loving children, Robyn J. Iserman (Alan) of Feeding Hills, Ann-Marie P. Malloy (Kevin) of Chicopee, and Christopher M. Gilcris (Amy Telford) of Salem, NY, nine cherished grandchildren, Ashton, and K. Shane Malloy, Matthew and Heather Iserman, Charlotte, Magdelana, and Alora Gilcris, and Emma and Joey Telford, all of whom she adored. She also leaves behind her sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” (Walter) Powell, June Goulet, Denis (Chery Lee) Gilcris, Betty Gilcris and Rosalie “Rosie” Gilcris, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, August 19, for a period of visitation from 7:45 a.m. – 8:45 a.m. at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, followed by a service at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral home. Committal prayers and burial will follow in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
