CHICOPEE- Shirley (Crosier) Lebert, 83, a longtime Chicopee resident and children’s advocate passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center. She was forever a “mom” to so many area children and spent much of her life helping others with her way of care and concern. She was born in Springfield on June 13, 1932 a daughter of the late Everett and Dorothy (Milett) Crosier. Shirley worked for many years at MSPCC and earlier in her life at Holyoke Wire & Cable. Her life was devoted to being a “mom” to many area children and she now receives the award of her goodness as she enters eternal rest and peace. She was also active with the American Legion Post #353 Ladies Auxiliary with her best friend, Ruth Picard who has been awaiting her ascension. She was predeceased by her husbands, William Chabot and Austin Lebert. She is survived by her sons, Michael Lebert of Chicopee; Thomas Strawbridge of KS; her sister, Beverly Murray of Chicopee; her four grandchildren, Jesse Strawbridge, Michael Lebert, Jr, Rebecca and Austin Lebert as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and her sister in law Giselle “Gigi” Crosier of W. Springfield. She also leaves her devoted caretaker and friend, Deborah Hoppe and her family of Chicopee. Life celebration hours will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 4-7PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013. Her life celebration ceremonies will begin on Friday at 10AM in Brunelle Funeral Home and be followed by the burial in Forestdale Cemetery, Holyoke.
