WHITINSVILLE, MA- Ruth (Foley) Riley, 89, of Whitinsville, formerly of Chicopee, died on May 17th following a short illness. She was born in Holyoke, April 17, 1920, the daughter of William and Mary (McGuire) Foley. She married Leonard Riley in 1942 and they lived in Chicopee for most of their married life. Mrs. Riley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy was doing for others. Her kindness, generosity, and gentleness will be greatly missed. In addition to her husband of 67 years, Mrs. Riley leaves her daughters, Maureen O’Connell of Chicopee and Lois (Lance) Holmes of Whitinsville; her son, Timothy (Paula Juba) Riley of Georgetown, TX; 4 granddaughters, Bridget (Thomas Dean) Perrella of Wilbraham, Margaret (Keith) Puglisi, of Bedford, NH, Erin (Scott) Roda of Belchertown, and Katherine Holmes of Whitinsville; and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services are private. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 271 Appleton St, Holyoke, Massachusetts 01040.
