Rose A. Turgeon

Granby – Mrs. Rose A. (Blais) Turgeon, 84, died on Friday, March 5 in a local nursing home. She was born in Notre Dame Des-Bois, PQ, Canada on June 21, 1925, the daughter of the late Alfred and Octavie (Audette) Blais. She attended schools in Canada. Rose was a former thirty year Chicopee resident and twenty five year Granby resident where she was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She was previously employed for many years as a baker at the former Liberty Bakery in West Springfield. She is survived by her beloved husband, Leonard Turgeon. They were married in Notre Dame Des-Bois, PQ, Canada on May 21, 1942 and were blessed with sixty seven years of happiness. She will be missed by five sons, Normand of Belchertown, Ronald and his wife Colette of Granby, Rene and his wife Nicole of Holyoke, Michael of Chicopee, and Rejean “Reggie” and his wife Denise of Southwick, three daughters; Lisette Jacques and her husband Norbert of Lewiston, Maine, Pauline Roy and her husband Laurier of Granby, and Sonia Hubbell and her husband Scott of Westfield. She also leaves two brothers, Arthur Blais and his wife Jeanine, and Roland Blais, both of Canada, twenty grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, France Roy on June 21, 1991, and her daughter in law Pierette (Roy) Turgeon on May 5, 2007. The funeral procession will form on Friday, March 12 at 9:45am at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, followed by an 11am Liturgy of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 256 State St. in Granby. Burial will follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, March 11 from 4 to 8pm.
