Robert F. Leveille

Chicopee – Robert Francis Leveille, 82, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 7, 2023 at Heritage Hall West in Agawam. Born in Montague, MA to Francis P. McCann and Florence (Haley) McCann, he was a graduate of Chicopee Trade School. Robert served his country honorably in the United States Army. He loved his country and was a true New England Sports fan supporting the Red Sox, Patriots, and the Bruins. He enjoyed working the many spaghetti dinners and bingo nights at the Knights of Columbus in Chicopee, supporting the Tiger Athletic Club and the Moose Club, both in Chicopee and volunteering on the Chicopee St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee to support the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
He is survived by his two loving daughters, Diane Massey and her husband, Joe, who was just like a son to him, and Bobbie Jo Grzelak, all of Pittsfield; his sisters, Susan Marchacos and her husband Michael, Laurie Trask and her husband Randy and Kathleen Morin and her husband James, all of Chicopee; his grandchildren, Samantha Grzelak and her fiancé Jared and Bryanna Laureyns and her husband Troy and Jacob Massey and great granddaughter, Raelynn Smachetti. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his brother, Thomas McCann in 1987; his sister, Cynthia Habrat in 2017, and by two grandsons, Joseph William Massey in 1989 and Austin Grzelak in 2019, who passed as a result of a fire. He will be remembered as a hero, running into a burning building to save children, and he never made it out.
A period of visitation will be held on Monday October 16, 2023 from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee followed by committal services with Military Honors at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
