Robert C. Homon, Sr. 1935 � 2009 Chicopee � Robert C. Homon, Sr., 74, a retired thirty one year Chicopee Police Officer, with badge number 1, known as the singing patrolman, died at home surrounded by his beloved family on Sunday, June 14, 2009. A lifelong Chicopee resident, he was born on April 22, 1935, the son of the late Leo F. and Josephine S. (Matoski) Homon. He was a graduate of Chicopee High School Class of 1952 and STCC. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, loved big band music, and singing. He had the honor to sing the National Anthem solo at a Red Sox game in 1982. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty one years, Joan (Roy) Homon, his son, Robert C. Homon, Jr. and his wife Melissa of Longmeadow, and his daughter, Lee A. White and her husband James of Westfield. He also leaves his sister, Barbara Hooper of Feeding Hills. He will be sadly missed by seven grandchildren, Evan, Ethan, Eli, and Emery Homon, Stefanie Thebodo, Kathleen and Amanda Guyette, four great grandchildren, Isabella, Christopher, Dylan, and Zachary, and one niece, Sheila, and one nephew, Kurt. The funeral procession will form at 8:30am on Thursday, June 18 followed by a Service of Remembrance at 9:30am at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St. Committal services will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1390 Main St. Agawam. Calling hours are on Wednesday, June 17 from 3 � 7pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert�s memory may be directed to Jean Bathgate at People�s Savings Bank, 610 Memorial Drive, Chicopee, MA 01020, to be distributed to various charities that are close to the family.
