Robert Eugene Gouin, longtime Chicopee resident and beloved husband of 64 years, of Kathryn H. (Lussier) Gouin, passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Regal Care in Holyoke with his loving family at his side.
Robert was born on September 7, 1938, in Holyoke, MA, a son of Simeon and Irene (Beaudry) Gouin, he was raised and educated in Holyoke, before moving to Chicopee in 1977.
He served his country honorably as a Seamen in the U.S. Navy.
Robert retired, after 35 years, as a machinist at Nonatuck Wire and later worked at CAP in Holyoke.
He was a dedicated Patriots fan.
Robert enjoyed watching drama and action shows on television including, his favorite show, Bosch.
He also enjoyed watching movies on the big screen and in the comfort of his home.
Robert is survived by his wife Kathryn of Chicopee and loving children, Robert D. Gouin and his wife Susan of Chicopee, Susan Gouin of Westfield, Michael D. Gouin of East Hartford, Mark W. Gouin and his wife Tricia of Chicopee, three grandchildren, Laura Magagnoli, Matthew Gouin, and Anthony LaFleur and great grandchildren, Marissa, Cody, Adam, Jacoby, Beckett, Alexander, Aria, and Bethany.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Nancy Lee Lockwood in 2021 and by his brothers, Carlton, Richard and Gerald Gouin.
Calling hours for Robert will be held on Thursday, February 15, from 4 – 7 PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St. Chicopee.
Robert’s funeral home service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, beginning at 8:30 AM, followed by committal prayers and burial with military honors at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
