GRANBY- It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family of R. George Weaver announce his passing on December 7th, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center. He is predeceased by his father Louis Weaver and his mother Helen (Chretien) Weaver. George leaves behind his loving wife, E. Theresa (Vetter) Weaver, just following the celebration of 69 years of marriage on November 29th. He also leaves to cherish his memories his son Stephen Weaver Sr. and his wife Dolly, his son Robert Weaver and his wife Monica. He leaves his grandchildren Stephen Weaver Jr. and his wife Melinda; Kari, Christian, and Taylor Weaver. He also leaves his great-grandchildren Mikayla and Adalyn Weaver, and his sister Lorraine Cote. George was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He proudly served in the United State Coast Guard during WWII and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps having served honorably during the Korean War. He worked for Harmann Steel Corporation, Dearden Iron Works, and Dublin Steel. He was a member of the American Legion and a communicant of the Saint Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. George was a proud founding member of Aldenville Junior Athletic Club. He continued coaching soccer for AJAC even after his children moved onto high school. Together he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Europe, Maine, and New Jersey. They enjoyed square dancing and camping in Clinton CT. and spent the winters of their retired years in St. Petersburg, FL. George enjoyed fishing, had a great love for dogs, and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He loved watching westerns, the Red Sox, and any EPL soccer game with his wife. He was an enthusiastic coach and enjoyed supporting his kids and grandkids at all of their games. Georges family would like to thank the nurses and staff at both Mount Saint Vincent especially Ally and Rose, and Birch Manor especially Donna, for their kind and compassionate care. Life Celebration hours will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 4PM-7PM with a 6PM funeral home service at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. The Rite of Committal and Burial will be held on Thursday December 15, 2016 at 10AM with Military Honors at the St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olsen Street Chicopee, MA 01020.
