CHICOPEE – Raymond J. Gagnon, 78, passed away on April 22, 2014 at his home after a lengthy illness. His beloved wife Estelle was by his side, embracing him and holding his hand. Raymond was born in Springfield on July 29, 1935, son of the late Edward and Eugenie (Lefrancois) Gagnon and was educated in Holyoke schools. He worked at Morart-Gravure in Holyoke; Haynes Labs in Chicopee and then as a unit refurbishing contractor at Doverbrook Estates. His hobbies were refinishing furniture, creating his own, unique pieces of furniture. He also he loved camping with his family! He took his family camping in New England from Misquamicut to the Berkshires. He completed his travels when he purchased a site at Laurel Ridge in Blandford. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in E. Longmeadow. In addition to his beloved wife of over 58 years, Estelle (Loiselle) Gagnon of Chicopee, Raymond leaves his son Jeffrey R. Gagnon of W. Spfld, 3 daughters; Dorothy Ingram of Ware, Donna Johnson of AZ, and Gail Gagnon of Chicopee. He will be missed by his eight grandchildren; Roy and Lissa Gagnon, Allisa and Matthew Ingram, John Moore and Bekki Peck, Andi and A.J. Johnson. Raymond was safely escorted home to eternal peace by his grandson David Gagnon, who predeceased him in 1981 and by a daughter, Debra J. Moore, who predeceased him in 2000. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., at Cornerstone Church, 15 Kibbe Rd. E Longmeadow, MA, 01028.
