RAYMOND H. MASSE
1923 - 2012
CHICOPEE- Raymond H. Masse, 88, entered eternal peace on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the VAMC in Leeds. Raymond is a proud veteran of WWII and served honorably with Patton’s Third Army. He was a POW during the war while serving as an antitank gun crewman. Raymond was born in Chicopee on July 28, 1923 the son of the late Henry and Ernestine (Verroneau) Masse. He was educated in Chicopee and worked for many years at Westover AFB with ground crew maintain ace and retired after completing over 25 years of service. Prior to that Raymond worked at BF Perkins and Hamilton Standard as a machinist. Raymond loved fishing and going to the movies with his family. He is survived by two sons, David Masse and his wife Trish of Chicopee; Richard Masse and his significant other Carrie of Ashland, MA; his daughter, Marie Dahlgren and her husband Phil of Easthampton; his brother, Rene Masse and his wife Marge of Chicopee; eight grandchildren, Stephanie and Emily Masse of Chicopee; Jennifer Meader of Richmond, ME; Carrie Dahlgren of Portsmouth, NH; Katrina Moore of Barefoot Bay, FL; Tina Lauziere of Chicopee; Terri Whiteman of Turners Falls; Daniel Masse of Turners Falls as well as several great grandchildren and extended family members. Raymond was also predeceased by his dear brothers, Bob Masse and Lester Masse. Visiting hours for Raymond will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 4-7 PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013. A funeral home service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 9:30 AM in the funeral home. The Rite of Committal and military honors will follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Olson St., Chicopee.
