CHICOPEE- Raymond Henry Benoit, 92, a lifelong Chicopee resident passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at Heritage Woods. A longtime resident of Valley View Court, Raymond enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was born in Chicopee on Aug. 27, 1921 the son of the late Aldei and Irene (Hamel) Benoit and was raised and educated in Chicopee. He served honorably in the US Army during WWII and as a proud veteran was very active with the Aldenville American Legion Post #337 where he was a Past Commander. Raymond was a Woodstock finisher at Savage Arms in Westfield and retired in 1983 after 38 years with the company. He was a longtime communicant of St. Rose de Lima Church, was also a member of the International Assoc. of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Union and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Theresa M (Authier) Benoit in 2004. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Denise Fournier of Chicopee; Donna Dupuis of NC; Diane Lafleur of Chicopee and their families. He also leaves four grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov.30, 2013 at 9AM in St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., Chicopee, MA 01020.
