1926 – 2019
CHICOPEE/LUDLOW- Phil Chalifoux, 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 after a short illness. He was born in Chicopee on June 29, 1926 son of the late Eugene and Florence (Savard) Chalifoux. Phil enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII and served honorably as an aviation machinist mate 3rd class. He later served in the Massachusetts Air National Guard with the 104th Fighter Wing in Westfield. Phil worked as a machine operator with Brown Paper Co. in Holyoke for over 28 years. He was predeceased by his wives, Evelyn Goodstein in 1951 and Blanche Jacques in 1999. Phil is survived by four daughters, Linda O’Malley of Andover; Lola Cook and her husband Rob of Virginia; Lisa Chalifoux of CT and Lucinda Harvie of NH. He was also predeceased by his son, Lance Philip Chalifoux and by his siblings, Lorraine Dejesus and Donald Chalifoux. He leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 11:45AM -1PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013. A funeral procession will follow and conclude with committal prayers and military honors in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam at 2PM In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Philip’s name can be made to the Good Shepherd Services, 305 7th, Avenue # 9th, NY, NY 10001.
