Myrtle L. Whelden

Myrtle L. Whelden1925-2015CHICOPEE- Myrtle L. Whelden, 89, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Jan 27, 2015 at her home in Chicopee. She was born on May 3, 1925 in Springfield, VT to the late Charles and Gladys (Lockwood) Whelden. While in Vermont, Myrtle was a Sunday School teacher for 25 years at Calvary Baptist Church. Upon her retirement, she moved to be closer to family and attended First Central Baptist in Chicopee. She was a lover of animals, always taming feral cats and finding ways to make them love her. She was an office administrator at Love Joy Tool Company for 30 years, retiring in 1992. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Michon and her husband Randy; and two grandchildren, Autumn and AJ Michon. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 30 at 11AM in Brunelle Funeral home, 811 Chicopee St in Chicopee. A private burial will be at a later date in Oakland Cemetery, Springfield, VT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thomas J. O�Connor Animal Shelter, 627 Cottage St, Springfield, MA 01104.
