Chicopee- Melvin Brown, 85, peacefully passed away July 21, 2016 at his home. He now joins his parents Francis and Edith (Berry) Brown in heaven. Melvin was born on November 30, 1930 in Barre, MA. He was a long time Chicopee resident and devoted catholic who faithfully attended St. Anthony of Padua Church. Melvin worked for Chicopee Fire Department for 25 years retiring in 1986. He loved watching, playing, and coaching hockey. For several years he was an usher for the Springfield Indians hockey games where he got to know the players. Melvin enjoyed spending time with his family and going to sporting events for his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Arlene (Charbonneau) Brown in April 2016; His brothers Harold Brown; Alex Brown; and a sister Marlene Bedard. He will be missed by his children; Sharon Crochiere, Joyce Cote and her husband Ric, David Brown and his wife Gail, and six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will gather and receive friends on Sunday, July 24, 2016 from 1:00PM to 4:00PM at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013. His funeral will begin on Monday at 7:45AM from Brunelle’s and be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St, Chicopee. The burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
