MARY ALICE MURPHY 1920 � 2011 CHICOPEE- Mary A. Murphy, 91, entered into eternal peace and rest on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at her home in Chicopee surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Holyoke on June 15, 1920 a daughter of Francis and Alice (McGuigan) Herlihy. She was educated locally and worked for many years at Albert Steiger Co. in Holyoke retiring as the personnel manager from the Ingleside location. Mary was a devoted communicant of the former St. Mary�s Parish in Willimansett where she was an active member of the Women�s Guild. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary�s as well as with Mercy Hospital and was an active member for many years on the Chapin School PTA. Mary loved gardening and cooking and loved to celebrate the holidays with her family, especially St. Patrick�s Day. Mary was predeceased by her husband, William Murphy in February of 1986. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Tucker and Edith Lorbieski; two brothers, Frank and William Herlihy and her parents. Mary is survived by her children, Patricia Orszak and her husband David; Kathryn Gawron and her husband Richard; William Murphy and his wife Carol; Mary Louise Chmura and her husband John; Jane Murphy and her partner Dorothy Weber; Susan Drzewianowski and her husband Leon; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Mary will be missed dearly by two sisters, her twin, Irene Brough and Elsie Kessler. Visiting hours for Mary will be held (TODAY) Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 4-7 PM at TYLUNAS Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her funeral ceremony will begin on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 9:45 AM from TYLUNAS Funeral Home and followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
