Chicopee – Lucia “Lucy” (Di Biase) Martinelli, 91, beloved wife, of 70 years, of Camillo Martinelli, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 30, 2023 at Heritage Hall East in Agawam, MA with her loving family at her side.
Born on December 13, 1931, in Lettomanoppello, Italy, a daughter of Davide and Camilla (Di Renzo) Di Biase, she was raised and educated in Italy before immigrating to the United States along with her husband and family in 1966. Lucia was employed for many years as an Assembler for TRW Automotive in South Hadley. She was a devoted parishioner of the former St. Mary’s Church in Willimansett and current parishioner of St. Anne Church in Chicopee.
Lucia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook and gardener, and she loved to crochet. She is survived by her beloved husband, Camillo of Chicopee; and loving children, Vincent A. Martinelli and his wife, Anna R. of Southington, CT, Gabriele Martinelli and his wife, Sandy M. of Chicopee, 4 cherished grandchildren, Marco Martinelli and his wife, Leah, of Chester, NH, Michael Martinelli and his wife, Erin, of Moodus, CT, Joshua and Julianna Martinelli both of Chicopee, great grandchildren, August, Elora, and Brandon Martinelli, sisters, Maria Camilla Di Biase, and Anna Di Biase, and brother, Antonio Di Biase all of Lettomanoppello, Italy, several brother and sister in laws, numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Concetta Di Biase.
Calling hours for Lucia will be held on Thursday October 5, 2023 from 4-7 PM at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee. Lucia’s funeral mass will be held on Friday October 6, 2023 beginning at 9:30 from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Anne Church, 30 College St., Chicopee.
