Chicopee- Louis “Lou” N. Hebert, 87, of Chicopee, passed away after a 3 year courageous battle of cancer on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Holyoke on August 15, 1926 he was a son of the late Louis T. and Angelina (Beauchemin) Hebert. Lou served in the United States Army during WWII obtaining the rank of T-5. He was a member of American Legion Post 353 and enjoyed making model air planes. He was employed at Holyoke Wire & Cable for many years as a dedicated maintenance man and retired at the age of 84 in 2011. Lou was predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine E. (LaBonte) Hebert in 2011. He leaves his son Michael Hebert; his daughter Gail Hebert; his sister Doris Szyszko and her husband Walter; his sister-in-law Diane West and her husband Nelson; and his special friend Chris.
