1918 – 2008
HOLYOKE - Louis A. Antaya, 90, a lifelong Holyoke resident died on Thursday, December 18 at the Holyoke Medical Center.  He was born in Canada on March 2, 1918, a son of the late Adelard and Marie Louise (Dutremble) Antaya.  He attended schools in Canada and Holyoke, coming here with his family at eight years old.  He retired from the former Brown Paper Company after thirty two years of service.  He was a member of the Holyoke Senior Citizens and the Golden Agers.  He was an eighty two year communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the League of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty eight years, Claire (Boucher) Antaya, one son, Louis E. Antaya, and one daughter, Marie Crochetiere and her husband George, of Holyoke.  He also leaves his sister, Donalda Geoffrey of Holyoke.  He will be sadly missed by nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Rita Fontaine in 1998, three brothers, Helidore, Charles, and Clovis, and his sister, Germaine McGough.  Funeral services are Monday, December 22 at 9am from the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St. in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church, 54 North Summer St., in Holyoke.  Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in South Hadley.  Calling hours at the funeral home are on Sunday, December 21 from 3 -7pm.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Immaculate Conception Church.
