LEON A. BISHOP 1918 � 2008 SOUTH HADLEY � Leon A. �Babe� Bishop, 89, a long time Holyoke and South Hadley area resident, died on Thursday, May 29 in a local nursing home. He was born in Southampton, MA on August 3, 1918, a son of the late Leon B. and Delima (Levesque) Bishop. He attended schools in Holyoke and retired in 1981 after thirty five years of service as a machinist at the former Moore Drop Forge (Eastco Hand Tools). He was a former ten year assistant Scout Master with Troop 303 of South Hadley and loved camping and fishing. He was the husband of the late Jeannette (Gelinas) Bishop who died in 1991. He is survived by his son, Gary and his wife Debbie of New Hampshire, two daughters, Gail Green and her husband Richard, and Cheryl Polchlopek and her husband Stephen, both of Granby, MA. He also leaves his sister, Rose Vincent of Oklahoma. He will be sadly missed by eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Edmund �Pete� Bishop. In keeping Leon�s request there are no services scheduled. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
