CHICOPEE – Leila E. Desormier, 97, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Willimansett West Nursing Home. She was born in Holyoke on June 4, 1911, to the late Alcide and Emelia (Roberts) Desormier. Leila attended schools in Chicopee and was a lifelong parishioner of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Ms. Desormier worked at the former A.G. Spaulding for forty years before retiring in 1976. She loved to socialize with her friends at the Chicopee Senior Center. Leila leaves to cherish her memory her niece, Sandra Normandin and her husband Richard; her nephew, Frederick “Rick” Balicki and his companion Susan; her three great nieces, Anne Rouleau, Alissa Balicki and Heather Balicki and her five great nephews, David Touchette and his companion Marcia, Michael Touchette and his wife Carol, Philip Touchette and his wife Michelle, Alan Balicki and his wife Lisa and Andrew Normandin. She was predeceased by her brother, Armand Desormier; her two sisters, Ida Cadieux and Leonne Desormier; her niece, Doris Touchette and her great nephew, Thomas Touchette. A funeral procession will form at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 12, at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. Burial will follow in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours will be Friday, July 11, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
