Kenneth Usher

August 29, 1933 — December 8, 2012

CHICOPEE- Kenny Usher, 79, a longtime Willimansett resident and disabled and decorated Korean War Veteran passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012. Kenny was born in Stafford Springs, CT and was a 1951 graduate of Chicopee High School where he played baseball, basketball and football and had a contract with the Chicago Cubs. He served his country in the US Navy in Korea and was very active with many service organizations after his service commitment including AMVETS #12, VFW#4526 Biloxi, Korean War Veterans of W. Mass Chptr #2000 co- founder and past commander, K.W.V. of CT, Chptr # 1, D.A.V. #19 past commander, American Legion Post #337 past commander, The Forty and Eight Legion Post # 190 Easthampton, life member Korea Veterans’ NE Chptr #4/#299, American Legion Post #337, Korean War Veterans’ Assoc., lifetime member, National, National Order of Trench Rat’s Dug-out #502, Naval Minewarfare Assoc., and was initiated to Warriors Circle- Abenaki Indians “White Crow”. Kenny was a longtime Willimansett representative and marched in just about every Veterans’ Parade in City of Chicopee and the surrounding communities. He was a member of the 1953 Yokuska US Navy football Team and all service team and worked in this area as an antique dealer for many years. He is survived by his step-son, Kenneth Lolas of Ware and his good friend Susan Masters of Holyoke. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 4-7 PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013 with a funeral service at 6PM. The funeral procession will begin at 8:30AM from Brunelle’s on Thursday, December 13, 2012 and lead to the MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam for the interment with military honors. If friends desire in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kenny’s name can be made to the Brunelle Funeral Home to assist with services.
