June M. (Fournier) Landa

June Marie (Fournier) Landa died peacefully on Sunday February 14th after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born on June 23, 1931 in Norwich, CT to Odilon (Pete) and Rose Fournier, she grew up in Holyoke, MA and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1948. June was a talented painter. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, the beach, playing bridge with friends, and most of all, spending time with her family.
June devoted much of her life serving the interests of senior citizens. She retired in 1994 after 20 years at Riverdale Gardens Nursing Home where she worked as a marketing consultant. She served on Chicopee’s Council on Aging for 20 years and was an active supporter and member of Chicopee’s RiverMills Center where she had many friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Anthony John Landa, her son, Allen (Jimmy) Landa, and brother John Fournier. June leaves to Cherish her memory her sons, John Landa and his wife Joyce of Nebraska, and Joseph Landa and his partner Brooke of New York. She also leaves her devoted daughter with whom she lived in her final years, Toni Marie Kmeczik and her husband Tibor of Chicopee; her two sisters, Joyce Fife of Holyoke, MA and Julie Katra of FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
June was the proud grandma to Crystine Galvin, Jackie Bunjer, Jessica Landa, Tibor Kmeczik and Anthony Kmeczik and great grandmother to Lauren, Taylor, Trenton, Jasira, Anaya, and Trey.
A period of visitation will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 9am-10am at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11am at the St. Rosa de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St., Chicopee. Burial will follow in the St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, 39 Olsen St., Chicopee. Please wear your mask throughout the funeral services and follow social distancing guidelines for the safety of all in attendance.
