Joanne Helene Darcy

Joanne Helene (Bourgeault) Darcy, 70, beloved wife of 49 years of Frank E. Darcy, passed
away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center with her loving
family at her side.

Joanne was born on December 8, 1953 in Holyoke, MA, a daughter of Arthur J. and Martha (Thibault) Bourgeault. A long-time Chicopee resident, she was a graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School and Holyoke Community College.

Joanne was blessed with a love and talent for crafting. She applied her gift for decades as the owner of Country Fair, selling handmade home décor throughout the Northeast and eventually around the world after she expanded online. Crafting wasn’t just a business for Joanne, though. It reflected her natural resourcefulness and creativity, challenged her to learn and grow as she mastered her craft, and most importantly created friendships that Joanne cherished throughout her life. Even in retirement, Joanne developed a new passion for machine embroidery, adding a special touch to apparel and everyday items.

Most recently, Joanne and Frank became owners of Zing! Table Tennis Center in Easthampton, sharing their enjoyment of the sport that was a fixture in her family. Her most treasured and fulfilling job, though, was as “Nana” to her beautiful grandchildren.

and Anjali Sonti, brother, Robert Bourgeault and his wife, Karen of Southwick, sisters, Nancy
Mainville and her husband, Matthew of Holyoke and Sandra Pudim and her husband, Edward of
Scotia, NY, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many others who she touched through selflessness and giving.

Family and friends are invited to gather for Joanne on Tuesday, August 13. Calling hours are
from 4 – 7 PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St. Chicopee. Joanne’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 14, with family and friends meeting directly at St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St. Chicopee, for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow immediately after the Mass at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Chicopee.
