South Hadley – Joan Lois (Labrie) Croteau, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 26, 2025 at Holyoke Medical Center. Joan was born on August 20, 1946 in Holyoke, a daughter of Leo and Helen (Shea) Labrie. She was a 1964 graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School and was employed as an administrative assistant for 32 years with Daniel O’Connell and Sons in Holyoke.
Joan was a member of the former Holy Rosary Parish in Holyoke and most recently at St. Theresa of Lisieux in South Hadley. She was an avid bowler over the years, enjoying the many Monday nights spent bowling with the Brunswick Belles. Joan also enjoyed aquacise and floating in the water but only if it was warm, camping, playing cards, eating frosting off cakes and enjoying a nice bowl of mint chocolate chip or purple cow ice cream. Most of all Joan enjoyed all the moments she spent making memories with her beloved family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Yvan G. ”Gerry” Croteau of South Hadley; her three daughters, Karen A. Croteau of Enfield, CT, Laurie L. Keeley and her husband, Daniel of South Hadley and Leanne M. Croteau of Enfield, CT; her sister, Anne Suszynski of Terryville, CT; two adored granddaughter’s, Stephanie and Alison Croteau; and by many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours will be held on Monday February 3, 2025 from 4 – 7 PM at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee. A service will be held at 6:30 PM in the funeral home. All are invited to gather for Joan’s committal service on Thursday February 6th at 3:00 PM meeting directly in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam.
