Jadwiga Teresa Zygawska

CHICOPEE- Jadwiga Zygawska, 81, of Chicopee passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at Willmansett Center East. She was born in Poland on May 30, 1932 a daughter of the late Wladyslaw and Karolina (Kaszuba) Plotnikiewicz. She was raised and educated there and came to the United States in 1986. She was a longtime devoted and hardworking church assistant at Mater Dolorosa Church and School having helped in the school and rectory kitchen as well as seeing to the facilities care and upkeep. Jadwiga was a woman of great faith and her devotion to the church was very evident in her daily life. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Boguslaw Zygawska; a brother, Marian and a sister Maria. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Zabinski and her husband Leszek of Chicopee; Malgorzata Lubas and her family of Poland; her son, Marek Zygawski of Poland; a sister, Lucyna Wojtczak and her husband Edward of So. Hadley; two brothers, Tadeusz Plotnikiewicz and his wife Leokadia of Holyoke and Walerian Plotnikiewicz of Poland; She will be missed by her granddaughters Agnieszka Zygawska of Holyoke whom she raised and Dorota Wojtczak of Chicopee as well as 5 granddaughters in Poland and her 9 great grandchildren. She will also leave many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Visiting hours for Jadwiga will be on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 from 4-7PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013. Her funeral will begin on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 8AM from Brunelle Funeral Home and be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St., Chicopee.
