1926-2018
EASTHAMPTON- Helen (Palermo) Gula, 91, a longtime Chicopee resident, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018. She was born on September 19, 1926, a daughter of the late Dominick and Mary (Bagniewski) Palermo. She attended St. Stanislaus Schools and later married Edward Gula, who predeceased her on Feb. 14, 2002. She loved spending time with her family gardening, traveling listening to Polka’s and making the holidays special for those she loved. She was a former parishioner at St. Stanislaus and a member of their Child of Mary and most recently a faithful parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua. Helen will be deeply missed by her daughters, Carol Demers and her husband Joe of Easthampton; Ann Marie Bean and her husband Donald of Chicopee; 12 adored grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter Barbara Rachmaciej; a grandaughter, Sally Rachmaciej and also by her four brothers and her sister as well as several extended family members. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 5-7PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013. Her funeral will begin on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 9:30AM from Brunelle Funeral Home followed by A Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 56 St. Anthony St., Chicopee. The Rite of Committal and Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Montgomery St., Chicopee.
