On Friday, August 5, 2022, Gregory Albert Denette, 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his beloved wife, Barbara, of 35 years, at his side at Day Brook Village in Holyoke. Greg was born on May 28, 1953, in Holyoke, MA, a son of Theodore A. and Erline Ann (Pronovost) Denette. He was raised and educated in Holyoke and was a graduate of Holyoke High School, and later attended both Holyoke Community College and Westfield State. Gregory held various employments throughout his career. He first worked for Donut Dip, later for Chicopee Mason, and then as a teller for Bank of New England – West. Gregory enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1976 and served his country honorably for four years as a Yeoman Second Class. Upon his return to the area, he resumed his job at Bank of New England – West and would eventually meet the love of his life and soulmate, Barbara. Within months they were engaged and later married on October 10, 1986. Greg started his own business, Denette’s HAUL AWAY and with the birth of their first child, Nicole, second child, Chantelle, and their third child, Teddy, he simultaneously took on the role of “Mr. Mom” and continued running the business. Being a sports guy, he enjoyed playing basketball and golf and was an avid Celtics fan. Greg enjoyed the many gatherings at the family home. Sharing with family and friends his love of beer, along with other adult beverages, and he also enjoyed the various trips to the Casino. Greg was also a member of the St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Holyoke. He leaves his loving wife Barbara L. (Gilbert) Denette of Chicopee and children, Nicole M. Denette and her partner, Jason of Winsted, CT, Chantelle Lea D’Angelis and her husband, Anthony of Hollister, CA, and Theodore “Teddy” Denette and his partner, Ana of Springfield, grandson, Malachai Theodore Denette, brothers, Brad Denette and his wife, June of Holyoke, and Doug Denette and his wife, Eileen of Albany, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews and many close friends. A celebration of Gregory’s life will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Greg’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
