Germaine (Ouellette) Lamothe, 95, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Vero of South Hadley surrounded by her loving family. Germaine was born in Salem, MA to Josephat and Mary (Labbee) Ouellette.
She was a longtime resident of Chicopee and was employed as the Nursing Home Assistant Administrator of the former Chicopee Municipal Home. Germaine was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed frequent trips to the casino with her girlfriends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 2006 and by her son, Harry in 2014, and by 5 siblings, Edward, Lucian, Maurice, and Jeanne Ouellette, and Yvonne LaPierre. Germaine leaves behind her daughter, Christine Alighire and her husband, Don, of Granville, MI, and her son, Gary Lamothe and his wife, Donna, of South Hadley; sister, Lina M. (Ouellette) Douville of Longmeadow, and 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey Berkenpas of Caledonia, MI, Tracy Berkenpas Hunt of Cedar Springs, MI, Jon Lamothe and his wife, Lauren of Bridgewater, MA, Reggie Lamothe and his wife, Jennie of South Hadley, and Emily Hebert and her husband, Chris of Ludlow. Germaine also leaves behind 12 great grandchildren who will fondly remember her as “Memere”.
Funeral services will be private. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
