CHICOPEE – Germaine B. (Boisvert) Riopel, 89, died Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Holyoke Medical Center. She was born in Three Rivers, Canada on March 22, 1920 to the late Albert and Alice (Tremblay) Boisvert. Germaine attended schools in Chicopee and worked for the former A. G. Spalding for twenty-five years before retiring. In her retirement years, Germaine worked at the Elms College as a housekeeper. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Rose de Lima Church where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality. She was also a longtime member of the United Society. Germaine leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Richard J. Riopel of Chicopee and Ronald J. Riopel of Reno, NV; her daughter, Anne A. Nowak and her husband Joseph of Millstone Township, N.J.; her sister, Theresa Dupre of Chicopee; her grandchildren, Joseph Nowak II and his wife Amy, Edward Nowak and his wife Mary Beth, Jacqueline Wizeman and her husband Matthew, Garrett Charette, Andrea Mattoon, Andrew Riopel and Michelle and her seven great-grandchildren. A funeral procession will form on Friday, January 22, 2010 at 9:45 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Burial will follow the Liturgy in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours will be Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Germaine’s memory, to the St. Joan of Arc School, 587 Grattan St., Chicopee, MA, 01020.
