DAYTONA BEACH- Gail E. (Carter-Dorey) Ritchie, 72, passed away on May 7, 2015 in Ormond Beach, FL. She was born in Holyoke on April 16, 1943 a daughter of the late Robert L. Carter and Claire (Hebert) Carter of Ludlow. She was the mother of two children, Daniel Dorey of Chicopee; Donna Tepper of Ormond Beach, FL; grandmother of two, Nathan Foley and Kai Tepper; great grandson to Weston Foley. Gail also leaves behind her brothers, Robert A. Carter of Charlestown, RI; David Carter of Chicopee; Dennis Carter of Chicopee; her sister, Pamela Kranz of South Hadley. In addition to her father, Gail was also predeceased by a brother Ronald Carter. Gail was raised in Chicopee and resided there most of her life until she moved to Florida 28 years ago and was a resident of Daytona Beach. Her love of the beach and sunny weather were her passion. She formerly worked at New England Container Co. in Chicopee for many years and with the former Spaulding’s. Gail was definitely a people person and worked as a waitress for many area restaurants over the years. She had such a creative mind and loved to do computer card crafts and write beautiful poems for people in her life. She loved playing cards and all sorts of games especially “Scrabble”. She lived with Parkinson’s disease for most of her life and was the most positive, smiley and friendliest person you would ever want to meet. When Gail came into a room, she brought smiles to everyone’s face and would always help anyone in need. She will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 4-7PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
