Frederick A. Stanek Jr.

Frederick A. “PA” Stanek, Jr. 84, lifelong resident of Chicopee and beloved husband of 39 years of Kathleen T. (Bohnak) Stanek, passed away on Sunday January 29, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. Frederick was born and raised in Chicopee and was a graduate of Chicopee Vocational Trade School. He was born on April 24, 1938, son of Frederick A., Sr. and Jane E. (Ceiboter) Stanek. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, as a Specialist 4 in the Military Police at Fort Polk, LA. Fred was employed as a Machine Operator, for over 45 years at the former Spalding Sports Equipment Company in Chicopee. He had many hobbies and interests that included, storytelling, going to the beach, golfing, woodworking, fishing, hunting, yardwork, drawing, decorating for the holidays, and most of all spending time with the grandkids. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen of Chicopee; and children, Susan A. Boyd and her partner, James Choate, Sharon M. Bordeau all of Chicopee, Karen T. Gosciminski and her husband, Michael D. of Granby, John C. Mongeau and his wife, Lucy M. of Ludlow, William P. Chacona and his wife, Maria of Chicopee sister, Marjorie Wojcik of Chicopee, eight cherished grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, nephew, Jeffrey Wojcik and his wife Nicole, and niece, Carolyn Wojcik all of Chicopee. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, Feb. 6, for a period of visitation from 11 AM – 12:45 PM at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, followed by a funeral home service at 12:45 PM. Committal prayers with military honors will follow after the service at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
