Chicopee – Florida J. Rheaume, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 13th at Regal Care in Holyoke. Born and raised in Lyster, Canada to Vital Fillion and Celerine (Lemelin) Fillion, upon graduating from High School in Canada she went on to graduate in 1945 from Gaucher Commercial College. Florida and her family moved from Canada to Chicopee, MA in 1961, where she went to work in local Manufacturing while raising her family. She had a strong Catholic Faith and was a member of the former Nativity Church. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roger Rheaume, in 2006; by her two brothers, Willie and Maurice Fillion, and four sisters, Leonida, Maria, Julienne and Gisele Fillion. She is survived by her daughter, Ginette L. Ogulewicz of Westfield; her three sons, Gilles A. Rheaume and his wife Gail of Montgomery, MA, Luc Y. Rheaume of South Carolina and Robert Y. Rheaume and his wife Genevieve of California; her four grandchildren, Sarah and Jennifer Rheaume and Kimberly Santiago and Melissa Ogulewicz; two great-grandchildren, Tanner Fitzgerald and Isaiah Santiago as well as many nieces and nephews. Honoring Florida’s wishes, all services were private for the family with burial in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee. Memorial donations may be made in Florida’s memory to a church in Canada that she supported, Les Pretres Du Sacre-Coeur, 2830 Boul Gouin E, Montreal QC H2B 1Y7.
