HOLYOKE – Fernando M. Colon, 74, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico on August 9, 1935 to the late Cruz and Antonia (Perez) Colon. Mr. Colon served our country in the United States Army where he attained the rank of Private First Class. While in the military, Fernando earned the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Colon leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of fifty years, Miriam A. (Perez) Colon; his two sons, Jose Colon and Antonio Colon; his three daughters, Emma Colon, Lillian Banchs and Yolanda Rosado; his sister, Margarita Colon; his twenty-five grandchildren and his thirteen great grandchildren. Burial with Military Honors will be Thursday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1390 Main St, Agawam, MA. A period of visitation will take place, prior to the burial, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee, MA. Memorial contributions, may be made in Fernando’s memory, to the Always and Forever Memorial and Honor Program, American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH., 44720.
