CHICOPEE- Ethel Kirk, 94, of Chicopee passed away at Willimansett Nursing Center East on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Ethel was born on April 24, 1922 in Hartford, CT and educated in CT schools. She was a longtime employee and volunteer at the nursing center and was very comfortable spending her last days in their care. Ethel was a nurse’s aide for many years and loved caring for others and spending time with the sick and elderly. She later volunteered many hours at the Willimansett Nursing Center where she felt at home. Prior to that, she worked for Spaulding, Skinner Silk Mills and Bernadino’s Bakery. She enjoyed craft work especially knitting, crocheting and plastic weaving. She is survived by her sons, Russell H. Kirk of Greenfield; James Richardson of CT; Raymond Richardson of FL; her daughter, Diane Miller of CT; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and other loving family members and dear friends. A funeral service will be held at a later date (to be announced) in the First Congregational Church, Chicopee, MA. The burial will be in Forestdale Cemetery, Holyoke.
