HOLYOKE-Edward “Ed” J. Suleski, Sr., 89, passed away on November 30, 2014 at Town and Country Health Care Center in Lowell, MA. Ed was born in Holyoke, MA on June 20, 1925 to the late Joseph and Erna (Geissler) Suleski. He graduated from Holyoke High School in 1942. Ed proudly served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946, lastly assigned to the USS Zaniah AG70, and in later years was actively involved in coordinating annual reunions of his shipmates. Ed worked in various companies in the area including American Writing Paper Corporation, Holyoke Wire & Cable and American Electric Cable, eventually retiring from Olde Holyoke Development Corporation. He was a Life Member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Holyoke Lodge of Elks #902. Ed enjoyed playing the accordion, and met his wife while teaching at the Bill Harry Studios. Ed was an avid woodworker and built the home where he and his wife raised their family. He was predeceased by his infant son, Stephen Benedict in 1964 and his wife Beverly in 2003. Ed is survived by his son Edward Suleski, Jr. and his wife Carol Kelly-Suleski of Chelmsford, MA; two daughters, Judith Suleski of Holyoke, and Teresa Vercillo and her husband Bruno of Ashburn, VA; and five grandchildren, Patrick, Brandon, and Emma Suleski, and Jeremy and Monica Vercillo. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 4 at 10AM in the MA Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1390 Main St, Agawam.
