Edmund W. Skiba, Sr. 1930 � 2009 Chicopee � Edmund W. �Eddie� Skiba, Sr., 79, a lifelong Chicopee resident, died on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Wingate at South Hadley. He was born in Chicopee on September 13, 1930, a son of the late Carl and Emma (Huot) Skiba. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Chicopee High School and proudly served in the U. S. Navy as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class during the Korean Conflict, receiving the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a former twenty two year member of the Chicopee Auxiliary Police and loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He retired after thirty five years of service from the former Rexnord Manufacturing. He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty eight years, Alice (Hebert) Skiba, three sons, Edmund Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Chicopee, Alan and his significant other, Heather Wright of Chesterfield, and Brian of Chicopee, two daughters, Sandra Beaulieu, and Nancy Lefebvre and her husband Gary, both of Chicopee. He also leaves two brothers, Adrian Skiba of South Hadley, and Paul Skiba of West Springfield, two sisters, Frances Cray of Palmer, and Doris Peterson of Springfield. He will be sadly missed by six grandchildren, Nathan and Noah Skiba, Becky and Zachary Beaulieu, Ryan and Haley Isom, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Carl Skiba, Jr. The funeral procession will form on Friday, September 18 at 9am followed by a service of remembrance at the funeral home at 10am. Committal services will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1390 Main St. in Agawam. Calling hours at the funeral home are (Today) Thursday, September 17 from 4 � 8pm.
