1947-2025

Chicopee – Edmond J. Plouffe Sr., 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 22, 2025, at his home in Chicopee surrounded by his loving family.

Edmond was born November 23, 1947, son of Edmond J. Plouffe, and Marguerite (Laporte) Plouffe, he was a lifelong resident of Chicopee.

Edmond served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was recipient of the purple heart.

He was a Union Painter for over 20 years at Local 257 in Indian Orchard.

Edmond was an avid fan of the New York Giants and fisherman who enjoyed fishing everywhere, but his favorite spot was locally on the Connecticut River.

He also loved watching his John Wayne westerns and the TV series M.A.S.H.

Edmond adored his wife and entire family and will always be remembered for the many weekend barbecues in the backyard. Known as Dad or Pops to many in the neighborhood because of his genuine concern for others in his family and outside his family.

He knew how to put on smile on people’s faces with his good sense of humor and warm personality. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis J. (Sumowski) Plouffe of Chicopee; his four children, Felicia H. Hyde and her partner Michael Syriac of Chicopee, Edmond “Eddie” Plouffe Jr. and his fiancée Angie Childers of Chicopee, Jacob Plouffe and his wife Ana of Chicopee and Susan Galarza and her husband Bill Bill of Chicopee; his brother-in-law, John Sumowski and his wife Linda of Feeding Hills; his sisters-in-law, Mary Cousineau and her husband Ralph of Chicopee and Sharon Duchane and her husband Jay of Ludlow; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews including his nephew, Billy Wlodyka of Chicopee.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Anne Wlodyka and Martha Plouffe. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 29th from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee with a Service at 12:30 PM in the funeral home. Committal services with Military Honors at 2:00 PM at the Mass Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Please join the family later that day at 6 PM for a remembrance meal at the Oregon Sportsmen’s Club, 610 Lombard Rd., Chicopee, MA.
