HOLYOKE – Edmond A. Freitag, 87, died Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Renaissance Manor Nursing Home in Holyoke. He was born in Holyoke to the late Frank A. and Helen (Cicierega) Freitag. He lived in Chicopee and worked as a purchaser for several industrial firms and for the City of Holyoke. Edmond served our country in Europe during WWII with the 79th Division of the United States Army. While in the military, Edmond attained the rank of Corporal and earned a Purple Heart. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee and was a member of the Chicopee Elks Lodge 1849. Edmond leaves to cherish his memory, his brother, Richard F. Freitag of Chicopee; his sister, Mary Robidoux-Hooben and her husband John of South Hadley; several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Edmond was predeceased by his sister Charlotte M. Freitag. A funeral procession will form Tuesday, June 16 at 8:45 a.m. at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St, Chicopee. There will be a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Chicopee. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Chicopee. Calling hours will be Monday, June 15 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Edmond’s memory, to Sunshine Village, 75 Litwin Lane, Chicopee, MA, 01020.
