Tribute
Donald E. Mercier, 79, of Holyoke, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 3rd at the Holyoke Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke to the late Charles and Rose Alma (Yelle) Mercier and served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Throughout his career, Donald worked as a self-employed carpet installer, working with many area businesses including American Rug in Holyoke and Holyoke Millwork. Donald enjoyed many things over the years such as politics, reading history, golfing, watching football, baseball and golf, attending nights at the Chicopee Elks, and most of all attending family gatherings where he would always bring red wine or beer. Donald will be dearly missed by his children, Darlene Nareau and her husband Wayne, Jr. and James Mercier and his wife Wendy; two sisters, Antoinette and Dolores and by six grandchildren, LaRae and Ethan Mercier, Melanie and Sarah Nareau, Kerri Lavalle and Christine Dempsey. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Mercier. Family and friends are invited to meet for a period of visitation on Monday March 9th, 2020 from 12noon – 1:00pm at the Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, followed by a service at 1:00pm in the funeral home.
