Cynthia “Cindy” Rose Binnall, longtime Chicopee resident and educator passed away on Tuesday, February 4, at Holyoke Medical Center at the age of sixty-seven.
Cindy was born on April 15, 1957, in Gardner, MA, a daughter of Raymond and Muriel (Finch) Binnall.
She was raised and educated in Chicopee and was a graduate of Chicopee High School and later received her Bachelor of Education from American International College in Springfield.
Cindy was a special needs teacher for over 25 years at the Bowles School in Springfield.
She was a volunteer at the Chicopee Cupboard and was a member of the local Scrabble Group in Chicopee that met once a week.
In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling and shopping with family and her many close friends.
Cindy leaves behind her loving sister, Kathleen Kerkhoff and her husband, Daniel of Chicopee. Also nieces Nikki Moriarty of East Longmeadow and Erika Garrison of Canton, CT and nephews Scott Kerkhoff of Katy, TX, Eric Kerkhoff of Westfield and Michael Binnall of Tariffville, CT. In addition, there are numerous loving grandnieces and grandnephews. Cindy will be sorely missed by close friends, Mary Dominick, Sheila Foley, and Karen “Kay” Lusignan, Godson, Ryan Foley, and her small furry friend, Buddy, her rescue Shih Tzu companion.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Daniel Binnall in 2009 and by her niece, Shelly Rae Kerkhoff in 2024.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 28, for visitation from 9:30 – 11 AM, at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, followed by a service at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial for Cindy will be private and at a later date.
