Clayton J. Tomlinson Jr

Chicopee- Clayton J. Tomlinson Jr., 70, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2017. He was born on March 21, 1946, son of the late Clayton and Rita (Deforge) Tomlinson. He was a graduate of Precious Blood High School and served proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. Clay worked for Spaulding; there he worked with their founding team of computer programmers. He also worked for Titeflex, American Optical, and W.F Young for many years and retired in 2011 from the Department of Mental Health in Northampton. Clay served as a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 409 for 10 years. His passion was listening to music, reading, spending time with his family, and vacations to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico with his wife. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Joann (Grycel) of Chicopee; his sons, Kevin Tomlinson and his wife Sandi of Chicopee, Scott Tomlinson and his wife Chioma of Dedham, MA; his daughter, Kelly Ecsedy and her husband Greg of Southbury, CT; four adored grandchildren, Alex and Eli Tomlinson, and Benjamin and Kayleigh Ecsedy. He also leaves a brother in-law, Paul Grycel and his wife Doris of Sarasota, FL; as well as; dear friends Dot and John Canavan of Chicopee. Clay will also be missed by his dog Maggie, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents Clay was predeceased by a grandson, Gabriel Ecsedy. All services for Clay are Private.
