It is with heavy hearts, we share that Claire (St. Jean) Owsiak, 97, of Chicopee, MA, passed away peacefully at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility on February 23, 2025.
Born on October 31, 1927, Claire grew up in Chicopee, MA. As the youngest of three daughters, born to Oscar and Adeline (Sansouci) St. Jean. She was predeceased by her sisters Anita Ryals and Jeannette Loomis.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Stanley in 2011. She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Linda, her son Donald (Sharon) Owsiak all of Chicopee. Her grandchildren Donald Jr (Kim) Owsiak, Christopher Owsiak and Kimberly (Daniel) Beland. Great grandchildren Chloe and Nathaniel Beland, Taylor and Paige Owsiak. Her niece Sr. Jean Kieltyka (Sisters of Notre Dame), and her nephews Robert (Sarah) Ryals and William (Kathy) Ryals.
Claire was affectionally know by many as simply, “Mem”. She loved nothing more than holding court at her kitchen table with a cup of tea (and cookie) in hand. She loved her family and could often be found on the sidelines of her great grandchildren’s games.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, February 28, for visitation from 4:00 –7:00 PM, at Brunelle Funeral Home, 811 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA. Funeral services will be on Saturday
March 1, beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Rose de Lima Parish 600 Grattan St, Chicopee, MA. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery, South Hadley MA.
